Leadership Coaching and Capacity-Building for Equity

My colleagues and I provide leadership coaching at every level of the school system: for superintendents, central office leaders, site administrators, and teacher leaders who want to increase their impact and become more strategic and equity-driven.

We listen deeply and do a comprehensive needs assessment to design a customized coaching plan. Focus outcomes may include: chartering and building a strong leadership team; redesigning professional learning systems; developing a strategic plan; learning to take a coaching stance and develop teachers; having hard conversations; facilitating adult learning; and more.

I have facilitated lasting change for numerous clients including the ReadNYC Collective Impact Initiative at the United Way of New York City, the East Side Union High School District, and a diverse range of superintendents, site administrators, teacher leaders, and teams.

“I find that Shane’s ability to unpack what’s going on with me has been the most fruitful aspects of our coaching meetings. Often times, I have so many thoughts and “must-do’s” swirling in my head and I often lack the time to process what’s going on in my heart, emotionally. Shane allows me the space to breathe and process. She listens and then offers tangible advice for me to move forward. I appreciate Shane for her wisdom and willingness to be my champion. It’s lovely to share my successes, downfalls and growth areas with her without feeling judged.”
Soo Jin Kim, Principal, ARISE High School

Equity Leadership Retreats

Equity Leadership

These two or three-day retreats support participants who want to learn about and address barriers to equity, identify an equity challenge, and develop a “skinny plan” to make progress on that challenge. Ideally done in a residential retreat center, my team and I will lead you through the formation of a community of practice and reflection on your own experiences and beliefs about equity. Modeled on principles of adult learning, this dynamic and interactive retreat provides ample opportunity for reflection.

“The facilitators created an environment where I felt comfortable and able to express things I was holding for years.”
Participant, Equity Leadership Retreat, New York, New York
